Learning
Learning does not just take place in school, and is not just for school-aged children and young people. Learning takes place throughout life and can be formal (part of an organised course), informal (family activities, for example) or self-directed, when people find out things for themselves.
It may involve developing knowledge, understanding, skills, changing ideas and inspiring people to take up new interests or activities.
Learning in cultural and heritage venues is very effective - it can literally put people in touch with the past, and offer creative opportunities unavailable elsewhere. Children who do not necessarily shine in the classroom often exceed expectations in a different environment. Adults can find a welcoming place to learn new skills and develop their interests further.
Nicola's work involves developing and delivering learning events and programmes for school groups, families and adults.
